St. Mary School provides a nurturing, faith-centered environment where the joy of learning is treasured and each child has the opportunity learn and grow independently. STEM instruction begins as early as Kindergarten, with learning in our Makerspace to promote critial thinking through hand-on activities. Introduction to foreign language also begins in Kindergarten and continues through Eighth Grade.

St. Mary School welcomes each child and family into a loving and caring school community. Our Elementary school consists of Kindergarten through Fifth grade.
Our curriculum is based on the Graded Course of Studies Curriculum Guides set forth by the Office of Catholic Education for the Diocese of Cleveland. St. Mary School is state certified, and faculty members are credentialed by the State of Ohio. Courses for all grades include Religion, Language Arts, Reading, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, Art, Music, Technology, and Physical Education.

Below are some highlights of St. Mary School’s elementary curriculum:
Daily Religious instruction that includes leadership opportunities and service to the community
Grade 2 learns detail about the Sacraments of Reconciliation and Eucharist
Students learn about physical science and health, Earth science, world history and geography, current events, and government
4th and 5th grade teachers teach more specialized subjects, and students rotate between these teacher teams
Introduction to Spanish language beginning in Kindergarten and developed consistently through 8th grade
Weekly School Masses, where students lead the Mass
Small class sizes to provide individualized instruction
Highly qualified teachers with a diverse range of experiences
One-to-One technology with Chromebooks
Strong fine arts program including Art and Music classes
Band program for grades four and five
STEM-based instruction beginning in Kindergarten with instruction in our Makerspace to promote critical and creative thinking through hands-on activities
Strong literature-based reading program using Science of Reading assessment for determining student reading levels; emphasis on writing process and written and oral expression
Math program emphasis on problem solving and computation skills as well as critical and creative thinking
MAP (Measure of Academic Progress) standardized testing program in grades K-8
ACRE (Assessment of Children/Youth Religious Education) test in Grades 5 and 8
