We are blessed by the support of our parishioners and benefactors who make the mission of our parish and school possible.
"Thanks to the power of the Angel Scholarship Fund, offering a dollar-for-dollar tax credit, you now have the opportunity to turn your tax dollars into tuition."

What if God blessed you with a no net cost opportunity to give up to $750 of your tax dollars to support Catholic education? You’d probably say, “Fr. Scott, that sounds too good to be true.” Thankfully, I can assure you it is not!
Let me start by clarifying, a contribution to the Angel Scholarship Fund is not a donation. Instead, it is a no net cost investment, where your contribution gets returned back to you via a dollar-for-dollar tax credit when you file your Ohio state income taxes. Best of all, the tax credit can increase your annual tax refund!
Since the inception of the Angel Scholarship Fund in 2022, more than 300 households from our parishes have taken advantage of this dollar-for-dollar tax credit to invest more than $400,000 of their tax dollars into scholarships for St. Mary School students, bringing down the out-of-pocket cost of tuition for families with the greatest need.
All it takes is a few minutes to make your investment. Already contributed? Thank you! Please help spread the word about the Angel Scholarship Fund, so our parish and school can take full-advantage of this blessing from God.
God Bless,
Fr. Scott Goodfellow

Locate line 8c (Income tax liability before credits) on your 2023 Ohio IT 1040 Individual Income Tax Return. If the total on line 8c is more than $750 (individual) or $1,500 (married filing jointly), you can contribute the full amount to the Angel Scholarship Fund and claim the full tax credit in addition to your annual state refund.
Note: If the total is less than $750 or $1,500, you can still contribute the amount listed and claim the tax credit up to that amount.

Contribute to the Angel Scholarship Fund ($750 individual or $1,500 married filing jointly) online with the Catholic Community Foundation or by mailing the contribution form with a check made out to the Angel Scholarship Fund and select “St. Mary School - Chardon” as your “Gift Designation.”
Note: Keep an eye out in the mail or your inbox for a contribution receipt.
Keep the contribution receipt you receive from the Catholic Community Foundation sent to you via mail and/or email for when you file your Ohio state income taxes.
Watch your annual refund increase right before your eyes! Claim the “Scholarship donation” tax credit when you file your Ohio state income taxes or in Turbo Tax and provide the contribution receipt to your tax preparer.
Receive 100% of your Angel Scholarship Fund contribution back to you in addition to your annual Ohio state income tax refund.
NOTE: This does not constitute legal or tax advice. Please contact a tax preparer with specific questions related to your Angel Scholarship Fund contribution.

In 2021, the Ohio General Assembly established a new program whereby Ohioans can receive a 100% tax credit against Ohio income tax liability for cash contributions to certified organizations that grant scholarships to students, including those attending Catholic schools. The Angel Scholarship Fund is the Scholarship Granting Organization of the Catholic Community Foundation, established to receive funds for and grant scholarships to Catholic school students throughout the Diocese of Cleveland.
Today, in addition to turning your tax dollars into tuition through this dollar-for-dollar Ohio income tax credit (up to $750 for individual filers and $1,500 for joint filers), your contribution to the Angel Scholarship Fund will help:
Bring more families into faith at St. Mary School, developing students to become lifelong learners and critical thinkers who serve and lead those around them
Broaden and enhance the faith formation of St. Mary School students, inspiring them to grow deeper in their commitment of service to God and others
Bridge the gap between tuition and the cost to educate, assisting St. Mary School in its mission to more competitively compensate dedicated and talented teachers
Make a one-time contribution or reoccurring monthly contributions and, most importantly, share this amazing opportunity with your friends and family.
